Unreal. I was was installing Wordpress on a client’s Yahoo web hosting servers. I encountered two major problems.
First, you can’t do an automatic installation of Wordpress with Yahoo web hosting unless you want it on a sub-domain. (www.yousite.com/blog or blog.yoursite.com) What you need to do is fresh installation the old fashion way. Build a database, and reconfigure the config file. Once you install Wordpress and set it up, you’ll encounter a second problem.
The second problem was that Yahoo didn’t allow pretty permalinks (www.yoursite.com/book.) You could try every permalink plugin and Yahoo still wouldn’t allow it.
This was a major problem because I was moving an entire site. I transferred the database and the xml files over and when I went to click on a page or a post….a Yahoo 404 page would pop up telling me the page does not exist. “But it does!” So I had to change the permalink structure to “/index.php/%postname%/.”
So my advice to you. DON’T USE YAHOO WEBHOSTING FOR WORDPRESS. Stay with GoDaddy or Hostgator.
